Last night I watched the rebroadcast of portions of the Mecham Auction in Kansas City. A really attractive '57 Golden Hawk sold yesterday for $37,500.

Not a bad price, but far less than some of the more extravagant bidding and expectations for similar cars in past months.

Anybody familiar with this car? It's said to have been a top trophy winner "at South Bend"... but it doesn't say when. My 56J was a top trophy winner on the west coast, but that was in 1970!

Any idea if it's a recent or older restoration? Seems like a fresh restoration should have brought more. But there were quite a few unsold cars, perhaps buyers are becoming a bit uneasy again.

Still, it was a very appealing Golden Hawk.

Looks like a 3 speed OD, without power steering. Those unusual features in a 57GH should stand out in anyone's mind that's ever seen it.

Way out of my class but I do have a rear seat armrest for one of those,
All I need is the rest of it!

Dean.

Bought by one of the dealers (Mark Hyman?) who is on weekly on "What's My Car Worth?"

My 1957 Golden Hawk was a three speed overdirve with neither power steering nor power brakes, but it did have power windows and power seat.
