I turned the key, depressed the "clutch" pedal and it started right up. It runs smooth and it runs quiet. Still working on the radiator support but that should be done later today.

Note the new battery box location. all aluminum and dig that fancy battery holdown strap. That ought to make BP happy. The air filter fits nicely along the passenger side fender and the new lower radiator fits without interfering with the hood. Cosmetics like the wire looms are pending and the A/C still needs to be hooked up. Parts stores don't have A/C stuff in stock because of the cold weather. (that's kinda dumb)

I can't wait to drive it.......... Soon.

Looks like it belongs Jon.

Of course it doesn't officially run until we hear it on youtube.

Looking forward to a complete set of pictures of the installation.

This is horrible, Jon. I'm so sorry. What are you going to do when it's done and it starts? No more work left to do. So sad............................

Is that a cast iron truck motor? 6.0?
Nice headers, nice Sdude cover on the side of the intake cover, very nice BP pleasing batt hold down especially the quick release handle, and like woody i like the remote MC remote resevoirs...all very nice stuff.

Now I hope with all of that modern great running driveline you plan on daily driving it....soon anyway. You did not build it as a fancy EFI show truck did you?

Many Threads on this already. Remote reservoirs are for the Master Cylinder. The clutch pedal is faux and only works the starter.
It's 5.3 with a 4L60E. Both my Studebakers are drivers. I've already got some chips in the paint on this truck.

You can see before pictures in April 2008 Turning Wheels. It was already a nice truck when we tore it apart.

coming along nicely, I forget the front suspension/stering type, I'll be looking through your old posts. Those 5.3/327 are (as you already know) peppy efficient runners, nice mild choice for sure.

FatMan Rack and Pinion Here's a shot of the stock steering column adapted to work the R&P. Note also the modification to the column shifter to work the automatic transmission.

I should be driving this next week-end. Check out how he did the radiator support. He widened it, cut the top off and extended the support to bolt to the main support. He cut a hole for the radiator cap and finished it off so there are no sharp edges. I like the way he slanted the support fins on the top support. Nice touch.

It looks so simple, but I know its not. I also really like the radiator cap with the temp guage in it. I have not seen one of those before. Might help me diagnois my heating problem.

Looking really good. I agree more pixs.

I think Summit (and others) actually sell thermostat housing covers with temp gauges as part of the housing (SBC I believe) - one could really monitor things with all three!

...and strong too, as the guys at Hot Rod mag demonstrated a few months back with the junkyard 5.3 they bolted twin hairdryers on and put the screws to on the dyno in an attempt to break it, got it over 1200hp and it remained intact, then upon disassembly descover it wasn't a 5.3 but was it's baby brother 4.8! They made over 60 pulls on the dyno with this motor and it remained intact...crazy stuff. BTW Sdude, you really hired the right guy for the job...awesome work! Junior.
