          Thanks for the link to that story, and a really interesting site, Jeff. In case anyone is interested, the airplane in the photo appears to be a Curtiss C-46 Commando. This cargo plane type was used extensively to supply the Chinese armies during World War 2, flying over "the Hump" of the Himalayas.

            All through WWII a local man drove a Studebaker of the same design. It was a light blue with the side panel in a dark blue. He always kept the car spotless and I have always wondered what happened to it. Interesting article.
