Can anyone identify Studebaker V8 head Gasket number 536265. What do they fit.

Thanks, Murray

If it is just a Head Gasket that originally came in a Valve Grind Set box marked 536265, it is a 535982 COPPER  Head Gasket, for all eights except 56J from '55 to '56, or for lowering the Comp. from standard on '57 & '58.

This NOT the beaded steel 1545072 "thin" high compression gasket used on '57 to '64 V-8's to achieve the rated Comp. and H.P.
It is the "Thick" one, usually a sandwiched asbestos and aluminum material.

Does it not look like the gaskets on your '55?

It should have FOUR big holes in it, but I am pretty sure it's not for the Studebaker Sparrow, the small experimental Lark built by Porche, with the air cooled, rear engine 4 Cyl. Engine! Lol! :D

Thanks Rich, I appreciate the help. I scored a set of head gaskets in the Studebaker packaging with that number on them. Before I put them in the "MAYBE REPLACEMENT PARTS" storage barn I like to put the part identification with them.

With the four big holes you reference I knew they were V8 unless a Studebaker customer wanted to do a 2/3 rebuild on his Champion six.

Seriously, thanks
