I am looking for a rebuilt hydrovac that I can pick up in South Bend. Mine has just starting to leak and would like to swap it out in South Bend. Does anybody know of a rebuilt unit around.

JP is no longer in the hydrovac business, so he's out of the equation.

My core will be attached to my car when I hit South Bend.

Allen, don't forget that you need the booster for disc brake cars. They are a little different. Check with Dave Thiebault to see if he can bring one.

I found a rebuilt disk brake Hydrovac at Studebaker International. I'll be swapping out the booster somewhere in South Bend. I've already got the copper washers. Any volunteers?

Find a shady spot and set up an impromptu "tech" session just like BAMS is doing with his transmission.

I'd add new rubber hoses too if I were you.

Thanks Guys,

Maybe I will pull up beside Bams and do just that. I have already purchased the two rubber hoses from SI.

BTW where is Bams setting up anyway? I wanted to see the transmission rebuild on Wednesday.

I have loaded my 3ton floor jack, axle stands, brake fluid, rear brake hose, copper washers and every tool I could think of in the trunk of the Hawk.

I am looking forward to the International Meet and meeting some of the forum members.

One last thing occurred to me. Crack the bleeder screws loose before you leave, especially the rears. If you shear one off in the parking lot, you'll have a project on your hands swapping out rear cylinders.

Great Idea JP. All of the brake cylinders, pads, and shoes had been replaced last summer, and I've cracked those bleeders so many times in the last few weeks bleeding the system, I should have no problems.

Looking forward to meeting you in SB

bring some windshield washer hose and a 20 oz. clear soda bottle or similar to bleed in so you don't mung up your paint. Also might want to bring a bottle of windex and shop rags to clean up the inevitable fluid spills under the hood as you replace the booster.
