  • Fuel System: Carburetor on a 66 daytona with 283 v8

Does anyone know what the stock carburetor would have been on a 66 Daytona 283v8? My carburetor looks newer, which makes me think it has been changed. Thanks for the help!! ( it looks like a two barrel, but not sure of the make)

Just a standard Rochester GM 2 Brl. probably like many '64-'67 283 Chevys.

Thank you. I just looked at it closer and it has a gm stamp on it. It says remanufactured on it. " 2-jet" also stamped on it, do you know if that would be a rochester? Thanks-Eric

Probably a Rochester 2GV...or at least one of the 2G family.

The 66 engine I have in pieces had a Carter 2bb on it.

Carter made replacement Carbs. for 283's, but the original was a GM Rochester.

That may not be an absolute. GM contracted with Carter to make some Rochester carburetors under license. GM did that as a wedge against parts interruptions by strikes. While I have no idea if any Studes possibly received any like this, there's lots of Corvettes and some other GM cars running around with Carter built Quadrajets.
