  • Ersatz heater control valve for '63

    The Daytona's valve is crusty and tired and since it's tucked under the dash, I wouldn't be averse to using a modern substitute.
    If someone's done it with satisfaction, I'd appreciate the info.

    Tom, I have no idea what an Ersatz is, but you should have a Ranco valve. New replacements (reproduction) are available.

    They are without the automatic temp. control the original had. Just a normal flow control valve that fits where the old one was.

    Removing the (2) bolts that hold the right side of the dash in, will remove the bracket that the valve is fastened to, so you can replace it. The control cable length prevents you from changing anything, they worked great for way over 20 years with no prob.

      I agree, Tom, much easier to stick with the standard issue. You can find them at swap meets, and the originals are rebuildable as well.
