  • Eye Candy 11/1/11: 66/64 Commander squad car

Hamilton Police Service's prized Studebaker squad car, a re-creation of one of the cars the department bought in the waning days of Studebaker Canada. This vehicle is actually based on a '64 V8 4dr and remains Studebaker-powered; cosmetically it has been made over as a '66. It was our lead car/escort through Hamilton during the plant muster event in September.

Shouldn't the red light/siren on the right, front fender be facing forward?

Not necessarily. Here in the USA several LE agencies as late as the 1960's had a red light facing towards the passenger side to signal motorists to pull over-----------and, the Michigan State Police still use their famous plastic 'STOP' sign (the one that mounts on the middle of the hood) to this very day.

Sold my 1962; Studeless at the moment

      Borrowed Bams50's sigline here:

"Do they all not, by mere virtue of having survived as relics of a bygone era, amass a level of respect perhaps not accorded to them when they were new?"

Yes, that's one mean looking squad car. Actually, it looks really nice in that color combo.

THat's one of the nicest looking squad cars I've ever seen.
            That blue hue is wonderful.

Nice car, and with genuine Studebaker power, it could likely catch more perpetrators than if powered by a 283 McKinnon. <GGG>
