  • Leaf Spring for Lark

Does anyone know the unsprung dimensions of the rear leaf springs for a 1959 Lark? I know they are 49 inches between centers when mounted, and they are 2 1/2 inches wide, 5 leaves. What should they be when they are not under load?

My 1959 Studebaker shop manual has them as 2-1/2" x 51". Standard number of leaves is 4 unless you have a "D" then it has 5 leaves, The Taxi which is a "Y1" has 4 leaves and 2 helpers. It makes no reference as to loaded and unloaded. I hope this helps clear up your problem.
