I installed a window type distributor on the 51 I am rebuilding.
Had problems trying to set the timing.
Took the cap off and tried to move the shaft to see if the points fire.
The top of the shaft came loose and was able to lift it off.
I want to weld the top that holds the weight back.
Do I need to pay attention to the position as to where the rotor points?
I want to make sure that the vacuum advance wont end up in the wrong place.
If I must I could pull a loose block from storage and weld it in it.
Would the welding cause any problems?
I am using a different distributor, so it is not a show stopper.
