Yikes!! [:0] Great stuff [:p].

Check the race results here...

http://lacarrerapanamericana.com.mx/resultados_05.asp

5 of the top 10 cars were Studebakers.

Studebakers well represented (maybe even over represented [:0]) in ALL classes.

There is a TW article or two here someplace [^]

I never got far enough into it to see any action - too much preamble. It would've been great except they kept lowering the volume of the guys interviewed so you could hear the French translation. You can hear about two or three words of English and then nothing but French.

I bet the cars are fast, though.

just curious, why so many "newer" cars? (i.e. newer than 1955 when the original Carrera was cancelled.) I thought that all cars that were competing were required to be of an age that they *could* have competed in the original race?

La Carrera Panamericana with Music by Pink Floyd

Race footage backed by music of Pink Floyd, interesting for die hard fans only, 19 October 2000

Author: (dcarlson3) from u.s.

This 65-minute documentary about a cross-country race does little but show off some nice cars, two of them coincidentally driven by Pink Floyd's Nick Mason and David Gilmour. Apparently this was reason enough to fill up the soundtrack with Pink Floyd tunes (as if a reason is needed for that), and the flick does boast the Floyd's return after a long absence. Several new, never-before-available instrumentals crop up here, including "Pan Am Shuffle" and "Carrera Slow Blues". Unfortunately, the versions contained herein are cluttered with dialogue and interviews. Still, Mason and Gilmour seem to be having fun, and if you're a die hard Floyd fan, you may get a mild kick out of it. The music doesn't seem to be up to the caliber it was when Roger Waters was in the band, but it is still light-years better than most FM rock.
