Thank you for your reply and appreciate the welcome. Please tell me why you think it is a 1940 and not a 39. Vin?

The Ozark Trails club has a few members in the Joplin,Mo area that might be willing to go take a look at it for you. I live 2 1/2 hrs from there and family that lives in Joplin. If it comes to that you want someone to look at it let me know or if you end up purchasing the car I can have a crew of guys give you a hand. Just let me know!!!

I wish you the best!

Joe.

1940's had a hinged fuel door, 39's didn't. '40's had sealed beam headlights, '39's didn't. The bodies are different between the two years. They're almost completely different cars, it's all in the little details.

Why is it shown with different rims? Odd

In the description the seller says he was trying out different wheels on it.

I emailed the seller first thru Ebay to tell him it was a '40 (before BBKing made this post). I told him I had owned numerous '39 and 40s over the past 49+ years and edited the Antique Studebaker Review for more than 15 years. However if he wants to call the '40 Commander a '39 it is his car and he can call it whatever he wants. If he called it a '39 Cadillac he would likely get more money for it. If he is going to make an error at least he should make one that will make him more. Incidentally those wheels are off a 1976 Lincoln. They are polished aluminum turbine wheels, I always like them.

I will be watching this closely. It's the same model we just bought but ours is in far better condition. I want to see if this meets or exceeds what we paid.

I don't know what year the car is, but the grille is a '40 and the headlights are '40.

Bubba-May I ask where you bought yours and for what price? Just curious.

inter handles, dash, center grill molding, and tail lts are '40. It is hard to imagine that this car could be restored for less than twice the restored value.
