Vintage air does have the air compressor/alternator brackets for $200., that will fit a 259/289 stude engine. But you must buy a rear discharge compressor for another $200. To me this starts to get a little steep, when you already have a sandeen air compressor, that they sell you with the vintage air.

If anyone has manufactured there own brackets, if you will share the secrets, it would be most helpful. Also, the early Ford power steering pumps 64/65's etc., are the same as the Studebaker pump I found on my Avanti. Someone shared this info. on a past message. Mounting bracket is way different but, the pump is the same. Can anyone send me a picture of how the power steering pump is mounted on a 289, as I can't get it done right. I have spent several hours and still can't see the forrest for the trees.

Hope some of this rambling may help someone! Thanks for all the help!

The parts book has a decent drawing but it basically bolts the two special studs made with a spacer in the middle. The shorter one goes on the top water manifold leg, the longer on the lower. Then there is a bracket to the exhaust manifold bolt.

I believe you can buy just the back plate for the Sanden if you know what model you have. That would be the economical way to go if you already have a known good compressor.

I put a top discharge compressor on our 57 wagon, has about 2" clearance to hood, fit fine. You can rotate the sanden on its side as well. I have measurements at home, for engine to hood, engine to top of comp and engine to top of hoses, also measurements from the bracket up, if you like.

I was told that if you bought the compressor from Vintage Air and there is a problem, they'll stand behind it. Did you buy the compressor from them? If so, I'd bet they'll exchage them for you provided it hasn't already been used. Just a thought.
