  • Interior: Shoulder belts been installed by anybody?

I have spent this morning looking through posts to see if anyone has installed shoulder belts from a brand X in a Stude sedan.

My '64 Commander F4 will soon be on the road and am curious what has been done out there in regard to seatbelt installations...(this will be a daily driver). Has anybody successfully welded/bolted a mount on the "B" pillar?

Thanks in advance for any of your experiences.

I have installed shoulder belts on my M15A truck. I was lucky where there was reinforcing brackets to mount the upper belt retainer. I cut a chunk of 1" angle iron I bought from Lowes, cut it to about 6", drilled some holes and presto! Where the bottom retainer attached on the floor board I had to also put a chunk of angle iron to reinforce. The three points just can't be bolted to sheet metal...

Iinstalled a set for my 64 cruiser. I started with a set from a 1990 toyota truck that had been rolled. I then combined them with the original studebaker belts by having them stiched together by a local leather shop.

welded a 7/16 finethread nut to the inner steel in the 53/4 coupe hardtop. Most of the seatbelts use that size captured stud for the shoulder section. The lower portion of the shoulder belt(spool) mounts to the steel cross channel at the floor, in front of therear seat. the rest is selfexplanatory. There are a number of aftermarket seat belt suppliers, I've used two different ones. Most are on the internet search engines, and also sell on ebay.
