  • Body / Glass: 1951 Bumper assembly questions

Alright so I have posted on here about my 51 before, but I had a couple questions that the manuals are not clearing up for me and I am hoping for some help from all you out there.

From what it looks like in the pictures in the shop manual (and please correct me if I'm wrong) the outer support bar and the inner support bar go together and are then bolted onto the frame. Is this correct?

If so, then where exactly do the bar-to-splash guard grommets go on the support bars? There doesn't seem to be room for them, so are they up by where the support bars start to curve away from each other?

If not... well the same question applies.

As usual I look forward to your answers and knowledge.

    Thank you!

I claim to be no expert but mine are up front where the front edge of the splash guard would just rest on them if depressed. I can see them serving no purpose anyplace else.
