I was sure I would find a thread with this topic already but could not. I need advice on removing the door handles on my 1950 Commander 4-door sedan. The repair manual does not give very specific instructions and I don't want to damage the handles taking them off. Has anyone had experience doing this?

Remove the phillips head screw in the center of the handles.

Like Rich said, the door handles have a screw. The window cranks have a metal pin that goes through the shaft, right behind the handle escutcheon. You'll have to press the escutcheon back away from the window crank to access it. The pin is easily pushed out with a thin punch.

Wish you'd have asked this a week ago, I could have taken photos when replacing the interior handles on a '51.
