  • Studebaker engine is serious about leaking oil

I have a 289 on an engine stand in the garage. I drained the oil (let it sit overnight with the drain plug open) then replaced the plug and emptied the oil in the drain pan. This morning, several days after I completed this procedure, I went out in the garage and discovered a nice little pool of oil on the floor underneath the motor.

I've read about Studebaker's marking their territory, but this is a little extreme!

Thought y'all would get a chuckle about this.

I would suspect you failed to "Burp" the engine before opening the drain plug.

Wow, you have one of those special Studebaker engines that makes it own oil!

The only thing that makes any sense is a bad Drain Plug gasket, a few tablespoons of oil that drained out of the oil pump and oil galleries would not fill it up to the pan arch gaskets or main seal, so lacking a hole in the Pan there is no way out for the descrepant few little oil droplets!
