I am trying to figure out what kind of heads that I have on my 62 289. The casting numbers are kinda hard to read, but look like 1667670. Does this sound correct? Thoughts?

Dare I say...you most likely have cast iron Studebaker heads on your 289. I know of none others that fit...and I (some of us) have looked..!I am trying to figure out what kind of heads that I have on my 62 289

Mike, I have a bad (cracked) head, and I was just trying to to identify the heads. The casting numbers are very faint. Hopefully, I can get this all going pretty soComment

The 570 heads are among the most common and you shouldn't have any problems finding another.
While you've got them apart, have new guides, positive seals and a good valve job done.
After fifty years of patching them up, I now mill the head, use new valves and the springs as well. No, it's not the CASO way, but it is the only way I do it any more. Your opinions may vary.
