  • 63' Full Package R2 Daytona coming to NW PA!

Hey Guys it a good day to be a studebaker nut. I just finalized a deal for a 1963 Daytona Full Package R2 in Super Red with powershift and black interior. The vin# is 63V34656 engine # JTS1680 this is one of only 9 F.P. R2 Daytonas built. I have been working with Bob Peterson on an R2 Avanti drivetrain I bought about a month ago Bob went out of his way to go pick up and inventory and box for shipment all the components bought. So after a couple of weeks of talking with him on the phone about the Avanti parts this daytona is mentioned, but spoken for by another club member. Well we checked with the other member and he was no longer interested due to anothe project he was working on. So I new I wanted it so I quickly jumped on it. I havent got any pictures yet it was one of those deals if you want it you just have to do it, but Bob and the previously interested party both said it was a solid car.

The car is not running and needs full restoration. Bob is going to bring it to me in Sept. when he comes over for the races in MI. I have already lined up a local shop that specialized in High end Mopar restorations. I am going to take it straight from Bob to this shop and he can start the work. I am going to try to have it done for South Bend, 9 months may be a little pre mature, but I'll have the engine, & interior done by other sources so maybe it will all come together by then, if not then Colorado Springs.

Ill post some pics as they come available.Bob will likely get some to me when he gets it to his place.

By golly, Johnny B, you're more fickle than I am with the money to back it up! Nice find!

You're getting quite a fleet of Studes amassed.

Cool beans, John; congratulations. Can I talk about it now? <GGG> BP

Sorry guys forgot to mention the engine is just a bare block but I have an extra Avanti R2 to use for a doner or built it from scratch maybe an R3 in R2 clothing? But none the less I will be in need of some superlark specific items for under the hood. Off hand a R2 lark water manifold and maybe air cleaner. I have 2 lark hawk type superchargers so those won't be an issue. Also the cowl tag is missing so if anybody has a 63 J8 tag let me know I know the number won't be correct but it'll be better than not having one. Does anybody reproduce them?

By Post #7 I found out what body style it is, since you only said Daytona earlier and that is a whole series in 1963.

                        Does this mean....

that the '62 Deluxe may be becoming a redundancy? (Wink Wink, nudge nudge)
