I need a m/c for my 62 GT. I got a m/c for my 53 coupe from my local jobber over night/are they the same m/c. His book didnot list one for a 62 GT.

You might consider getting an upgraded 'dual chamber' master cylinder from Jim Turner at www.turnerbrake.com
This will give you a safety upgrade in the event of a brake line or wheel cylinder failure.
It will require a new mounting bracket adapter.
