I am trying to get the speedometer cable out to lube it, in my 61 Lark 6, It should unscrew and pull out. However it does not come out. Am I missing a step or something? The shop manual does not say anything, probably too simple to explain. Thanks

After unscewing the cable nut on the back of the speedometer and pulling it back a couple of inches the cable core should pull out, unless some invisible damage was done to the casing that damaged the core and prevents it from pulling out.
