  • Rear Axle: How to identify Twin Trac axle

Are there any external markings on the axle that identify it as a Twin Trac? Thanks

  • #2
Sometimes you get lucky and a "TT" tag is still on one of the rear cover bolts...

      Pull the fill plug out.
Stick your finger in the hole.
If it goes all the way in, it is NOT a TT.
If it goes in only to the first knuckle, it is a TT.

Or, jack up the car under the pumpkin enough to raise tires off the ground. Put car in neutral. Rotate tire and wheel assembly forward. If other wheel{not the front one} goes in the same direction at the same time. Yi Haa! Ya got a TT. jimmijim
