  • Studebaker Security Badge

    Is this the real deal?

Close, but no segar. The back may be authentic, but the red ball logo definately is not. The red ball part is actually a tie tack or hat pin! You will notice that it has "made in USA" under "Studebaker" and half circles all around it. I have one just like it that I wear on my tie. It is an old pin however. I haven't seen any since I got mine at SASCO years ago.

      But it sure looks neat!

The badge itself is non Studebaker & perhaps the stuck on Studebaker red ball hides the real origin of the badge. I hope the person that took the "buy now" option realised this. The original badges had Plant Protection - Studebaker on the face plus a number. They occasionaly come up on Ebay but are pricy.

Above my two plant protection badges for comparison. Again I refer you to my extensive illustrated ALMANAC article on this topic in the March and April 2009 issue of Turning Wheels
