Frank VanDoorn's new '52 Starliner

I purchased the car this week from a friend locally who wanted to sell to make room for other projects. It is a running presentable car that just needs some TLC. Just the kind of thing I can deal with as I no longer do complete resto's. The doors and windows fit like a saddle on a sow and need improvement to make it weathertight. The 232 runs nicely and has a working overdrive so it should drive well on the freeway if needed. It needs a waterpump and cooling system flush, tuneup, etc. etc. etc. You get the picture. On the positive side it has beautiful grille plating and bumpers and presentable paint and is a rust free southwest car. I have a sentimental attachment to 52's as my first ever Studebaker was a 1952 Commander State convertible (same color) that I received for graduation from highschool. This car however is about as close as I will get to that old convert as they are rare as hens teeth these days. Oh, the old convert, used, in 1959 was purchased for $495.00, this one for somewhat more. Thanks for looking.Frank van Doorn

Yes that is a neighbor of mine and it is a convert, does not drive it much but backs out in the driveway from time to time, uses too much gas I guess!

Nice car, Frank; congrats.
(What happened to the stainless steel around the windshield?)
Cool beans! BPWe've got to quit saying, "How stupid can you be?" Too many people are taking it as a challenge.

Dee-licious, Frank. 52s are my favorite year Stude after Larks and GTs. Love the hoen button on those; they remind me of a 60s Cadillac.
Enjoy!Proud NON-CASO

Don't know Bob. The stainless has not been on the car since it came to Nebraska and now to our collection by way of John C. who got it in Indiana 9 years ago.

Sorry Sam the car is not for sale as I have only owned it three days. The car is a Commander so it has the 232 120hp V-8 engine with a standard shift with overdrive so is a capable highway runner.
