  • Speedo / Tach / Gauges: Temperature gauge and sending unit 1957 silver hawk

I have all gauges now working except for the temperature. My problem is I cannot find a "black" wire " (as described in the wiring diagram for the sensor wire) coming out of the wiring harness under the hood. There is a loose white wire hanging from the wiring harness. It has a flat type of connector on the end of it which slides onto something. As I cannot see the sensor, I have no idea how a wire hooks to it. Two questions:

What kind of a connector attaches to the end of the sensor?

Has anyone ever found anything other than a black wire attaching to the Sensor? I have confirmed that the wire leaves the gauge as black but it never comes out of the harness under the hood.

    Thanks
