  • 1957 Packard Clipper paint scheme question....

    Hey guys,

Was the 1957 Clipper ever offered in a white and green color combo? White in the center, with lets say a softer green for the roof and below the main side trim. Does anyone have pictures of a combo like that, factory or not?

    Thanks!

Sounds like it would look exactly like your Turquoise & White Clipper is now! The only other Green used in '57 was the medium green metallic: "Glendale Green Poly" P-5716. Other years used actual light Greens like a leaf green color as in 1959.

It would be close, but not quite. The color I am thinking of they call a "turqouise", but it is much paler and has less blue in it than what it has now. I think I'm going to go ahead and do it in the color, and see what happens; but I wanted to see if there was any like that already :P

Dylan, I'm sure that I saw one just like you are thinking about at the Carlisle, PA car show back in the late 1980s or early 90's. IIRC, the top and lower section were a light non-metallic green and definitely not turquoise. I thought it looked good. The car was for sale more than one time at this event, that was and is held a couple times a year. Apparently he had trouble selling it back then. I don't have a '57 Packard paint chip chart, so I can't say if it was factory or not. Sorry, no pictures.

If you like the look, you could always try 'Surf Green'. Yes, it was a colour in 58 for cars, and possibly in 57 as well as it is listed in 57-58 Commercial Colours. I think it would look rather nice, myself.
Also, it was offered as part of a two-tone in 58, but not with a white, Sherwood Green instead (not my taste)
          anyway, look here. http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorli...baker-pg01.jpg

I'll have to check my eBay folders~
I think I have a pic of a Packard in the colors you're talking about.

If not- I have pictures of Jim's car in those very same colors...

Very cool guys, thanks!! I wasn't quite thinking surf green, (although that is a very nice color in my opinion), but more like this 'turquoise'......

There is a '57 Packard color called simply 'Turquoise'. Looks similar to the engine color in post above. I can't tell from the pic of your car, but it looks like it might be Wedgewood Blue now.

Ok, cool! I was right! I really DO like that color, but I am imagining a little different look. I may change it later, but we shall see I still would like to see a example that is at least close to what I am thinking, before I take the plunge and start buying body materials....

Dylan, this is a little off subject but you might get a kick out of the tail gate blue in color but nice dealer decal on back.

When it was in the shop and sitting on the floor I though it said Everett Wa. but interesting any way...Bob
