View Full Version : Supercharger belt length

I have one supercharger belt in a collection that is about 3 inches shorter than the others. The others are confirmed Golden Hawk belts. Could this one be for an R2 Avanti?

It is a Dayton v235m.

My other non NOS is number df 1542751 4-4278. It seems to have a shallower pitch then the others. Just now noticed its the NOS part number with a suffix

The NOS are part number 1542751.

Thanks fellows,

See you all at the Smokey Mountain meet this weekend.

The NOS number you have is a Golden Hawk and Lark- Hawk R-2 belt cause I have one here, the other belt if it is a wide one can't be for an Avanti as they use dual narrow belts.

I wonder if this may be for another application as it looks exactly the same except for the length.

If it is about 3" shorter it would not be a Stude application I would not think. Maybe it will fit your snowmobile if you have
one :D Couple of weeks ago after I purchased a new supercharger belt from Ted Harbit at the South Bend swap meet someone asked me where my snowmobile was parked as I carried it out, wise guy:)

As stated, the R2 Avanti belt should have about the same width as the ordinary belts on the car, roughly speaking. That belt should have a mate as the belts on the R2 Avantis were matched sets or pairs. Theres probably a couple other manufacturers that might use that smaller belt. It could be a 57 Ford Thunderbird belt from there supercharged model. It could also be a Kaiser Manhattan belt as their supercharger mounted on or above their flathead six. And it could be the supercharged Mustang belt, but that might have the same length as the Larks and Hawks.
