A few weeks ago, I had an accidental meeting with a fellow at a car dealership who said he was a Studebaker fan. He also stated that he was having a '64 Cruiser he had bought on eBay shipped in and invited me to come look it over after it arrived.
I was only a couple of weeks out from my shoulder surgery and still dealing with post surgery pain, went home and thought very little about the meeting. A week or so later I found a voice mail on my phone letting me know that the car had arrived. The two of us played phone tag a few times...I committed to getting over to look at the car and then life got in the way.
Today, after my physical therapy session, I made a point to go by the Ford dealership where this gentleman works. (He is commander 56 on the forum) Turns out...this is the '64 Bermuda Brown Cruiser that was discussed here a while back. I don't think the new owner could be more pleased with the car. To me it looks like a great survivor!
Unless there is something I have failed to understand about our club's new "Survivor" designation...I think this would be a great example. The car has a couple of rust bubbling issues that do not look like major surgery to repair. I told him that if it were mine, I would have those areas repaired and what little paint touch up would be required, to blend in the work, should not detract from survivor status. I think he had already come to the same conclusion. The fact that he works at one of the oldest and most reputable dealerships in the area, means he has resources that many could only dream about.
My fresh eyes on the car saw a top radiator support bolt that needed snugging up and one front loose intake manifold bolt. Otherwise, the car looks ready for a road trip or a local cruise-in.
Good example of JDP and Sal's work and a grinning customer... from someone without a dog in the hunt.
