  • Auto Race Track in Beverly Hills Ca.

On April 8, 1910 The Playa del Rey Motordrome was opened in Beverly Hills Ca. This was the first board speedway built in America, The track was built entirely of wooden boards at a cost of more than $75,000 and was hailed as the worlds safest and fastest race course. Credit for the idea of the racetrack is given to Fred E. Moscovics who later
    ran Stutz.

Actually, it was a motordrome - motorcycles raced there for the most part. Very few autos.

I wonder if they motorpaced bicycles as well. Often during this era motorcycles paced bicycles on such banked board tracks. By drafting the motorcycles the bicycles reached incredible speeds.
