I am getting ready to put a Dana 44/3:31 axle in place of the 27 that is in my 63 Lark. Will the hubs and drums interchange between the two axles? The Dana 27 is a V-8 rear. Can I unbolt the backing plates from the 27 and put them on the 44? Thanks for the help.

27 to 44
Everything should fit fine, all Brake Parts are the same fit to either Axle. Just do not mix any 6 Cyl. parts front to rear, with V-8.
You will want to pay attention to the Axle end play adjustment shims between the right axle flange and the backing plate, I would go with the ones from the original 44 axle setup and re-check end-play.
The only other issue you probably already know, is the "U" Bolts are different due to the larger diameter axle tubes on the 44, and the driveshaft lengths are different.

Thanks, I knew about the u-bolts and the shorter drive shaft. I just picked up a T-86OD tranny and plan on installing it at the same time. Might as well pull the engine out at the same time and reseal it. I should also paint under the hood.....(and the snowball has started rolling).Jamie McLeod
