  • Body / Glass: '53 C/K Hoods

Did they have any type of reinforcement metal mounted from side to side underneath to keep it less "wiggly" when being closed?

Hi Tim, check your springs, and make sure the hinge mechanism is lubricated and moving freely.

Also be sure your stiffner rod is present, from hinge to hinge, AND TIGHT! Very sloppy without it.

I was looking at the CE stiffener. Can it be installed without welding ? Can it be installed on a already painted and mounted hood ? Also does it need painted (is it black or raw ?)

          Inquiring mind wants to know..

          Thanks in advance

I have always welded them in but with some of the 3M bonding agents you could probably go that route. Comes bare. David

One thing that helps (on all Stude's)...
Always pull the hood forward (toward you) when opening or closing.
Don't just lift it straight up, or push it straight down.

Make sure the assist springs are there and in healthy shape....they make a big difference in the hood opening forward motion!
