That sure isn't good news I do not like Code Inforcement. Me and them used to go round and round. I couldn't even lift my hood on my car without one neighbor calling in. Talked to Supervisors and Councilman and got them an education. So far (knock on wood) they are leaving me and my neighbor alone.

We have to many projects & need to focus on our other cars. We knew sooner or later the city would get us, since the city is hurting for money.

        Take care

I'd be interestted in the Avanti as well. What's the title status, does the car move under its own power, a/c etc.

                Thanks, Ken

The Avanti has a clear title & on a non-op, R1, auto,no A/C, no power steering, it has been sitting for years, Rick drove it into the garage years ago.
Needs a gel coat, bright work, orginal carpet, frame & hogtroughs are perfect, Low miles 68K.

                  Thanks

The nice thing of living in the South, everybody has a few old, weathered cars on jack stands in their frond yard. When my car ran for the first time (open headers of course) the neighbors came outside with thumbs up! On another note, someone please explain how anything like this doesn't go against the Constitution. A hippie can paint his house all weird, ugly shades and yet a piece of America's history can't be justified as art of the same fashion. It is also the same thing as saving a building that has history in your area or is REALLY old, it may be falling down, but some historical society still wants to preserve it. The building may be a sore thumb to others and so may a rusty car, but both have people out there wanting to save them.

My friend's '54 Corvette in his living room can be called art. The Pinto rotting in my neighbor's yard, not so much.

I will admit to having an old Stude at my house up on jackstands.. But it's inside the barn!

Well, all that depends on the point of view. I.E. beauty is in the eye of the beholder. All the same, if I lived in town, I wouldn't want a bunch of trashy junk cars in the neighbor's front yard, along with the commonly also ever present weeds and trash. Seems almost every neighborhood has one.

As to the back yard, that's nobody's damned business! If the neighbors don't like it, they can grow a hedge or build a higher fence and keep their noses to themselves.

Then again, such a thing as collecting can get out of hand and cause problems with vermin (rats, mice, possums) and insects (namely ants and roaches). There's collecting and then there's a packrat disorder (not very uncomon really). When in town, one must always keep in mind the neighbor's right to a decent living environment.

When I moved back up to Northern California I accidentally ended up in Trinity County. They have very liberal laws regarding derelict cars on private property. So, my Studebakers and George's Rovers are quite safe... for now. Shasta County, on the other hand, is much like the area around Sacramento. Lots of City people retired up around here and want to make their country home an Estate. Thus, one must keep their parts cars and collections in enclosed areas and under a roof. This is the case even out in the countryside way outside of town. Shasta can be very draconic about this county ordinance. Seems to me to be one of the ways we have become that much more socialist, or possibly Communist. Truely a pity, but there you have it.

Welcome to the People's Socialist Republic of California.

It has always been my dream to retire and purchase the house next door to my old boss. I would then buy a bunch of rusty old Studebakers and put them up on blocks around the yard, move in an old used garage for a shop, and put it as close to his yard as possible. I would get one of those horrible oiless air compressors that sound like Saturday at the machine gun range when they run and leave it on all the time, so you could never predict when it would start, or how long it would run. Then I would put up one, or maybe two, of those big old C band satellite dishes with auto rotators that squeak and squeal. Put a few goats or sheep in the yard to keep the grass down. Put a little shack in the back and rent it out to a big family of immigrants. Paint the house black and purple. Get a real good lawyer, sit back on the porch, drink a beer and enjoy life.
