Sad news to report here that Ken Holste of Blue Island, Illinois passed away this morning (2-15-11), at approx 11:00 a.m. Ken was a lifetime member of the SDC and ASC and was the only person to have ever served as President of both organizations. His Studebaker connection went back to the 1930s as his uncle owned a dealership in southern Illinois and his dad worked for many years as a mechanic in dealerships in the Chicago area. Ken had a number of Studebakers over the years including a ’53 Commander that he purchased new and still owned. He also owned a ’37 Coupe Express, a ’41 President as well as others. Ken was a veteran of WWII and worked most of his life at Sears Roebuck Co. In the photo above Ken is shown on the right with long time friend Dick Stewart (Hershey, PA Oct 2004).
The wake will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday Feb. 17 at the Krueger Funeral Home 13050 S. Greenwood Ave. Blue Island, IL.
The funeral service at the Salem Lutheran Church 12951 Maple Avenue Blue Island, Illinois 60406 on Friday Feb 18 at 11:00 a.m.
