  • What year Dodge beds fit on Champ pickups

I have a friend that is getting ready to start on bringing a Champ pickup back on the road. He thought about getting a new bed for the truck. Thanks in Advance

If it were my choice I would go with the flareside Ranger pickup bed. Its narrower than the Champ cab in the bed area & the fender sides give it a natural look. Put a Studebaker decal on the tailgate & your good to go.

I think this is what this bed is:

        I agree, it looks good!

Dodge used the bed in 59 and 60. Those were not good sales years for Dodge trucks. Not a lot of survivors. Might be more beds existing as used on Studes than on Dodge.

IIRC there were lots of bed-sides left over from SASCO when SI purchased the inventory. Can someone confirm that? Combine that with the reproduced bed floors...

Then there's that blue Champ in Arizona that used a Stude bed with Dodge stepside fenders. That looked good. Both those items should be easier to find.

I've been curious as to how well a Dodge Dakota bed would match up to a Champ cab. Anybody seen such a matchup?

Anne; keep in mind that a '60 Dodge bed is NOT a "bolt-on" on a Stude. Cab and Chassis. Stude. modified the front with an angular (tapered) filler panel to get the correct longer than 6 1/2 ft. and 8 Ft. Stude. Champ "Spaceside" Wide Boxes to fit the frame and wheelbase.

Milaca......I wondered about that myself.....I have measured the Dakota bed, it fits just about like the Dodge bed did on the Stude.......A little wider then the cab......Keep on Studebakering

There is still bed sides in South Bend, Studebaker International. Belive there might be a floor or two also. Jim

Good to know, but I'm afraid to ask Ed how much. I have a shortbox that has a very wavy floor and the bedsides have outward indentations from the inner fenders pushing outward.

Yup. Confirmed. I helped lift several.
