  • FS original 53 Commander San Francisco bay area

Not my car, but the Thoms brothers may know about this car since it is on the San Francisco bay Peninsula and they may have worked on it. It is one of the most expensive 53's Ive seen for sale. I guess original is king. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/2195264170.html
    COMPLETELY ORIGINAL
    Excellent condition
    2nd owner since 1976
    49,724 miles
    232.6 cu. in (3812cc.) V8
    Borg-Warner automatic transmission
This original starlight fixed-pillar coupe was mainly the work of Robert Bourke,
Chief Engineer of the Raymond Loewy Group in South Bend, Indiana.
This quote from the below 1953 ad, "People everywhere say this is the most
refreshingly different and strikingly original automobile they ever saw."
After the 1953 model, they added grill teeth, chrome, and more chrome,
    later fins, etc., etc.
The 1953 Studebaker Commander was, and still is, one of the classiest cars ever built.

Appears to be a nice Starlight, but I can not imagine that price for a modified car that is not in show condition.
Note the way that they changed Bob B. from designer to engineer.
