I have a '50 Champ Starlight Coupe. It has a "fully" massaged Cathcart 185 in it (.060 over, cammed duals) and has plenty of power (about 145 hp). I don't need the 4.56 gears here in the flatlands of the Midwest, so I changed over to a set of 3.73 gears. It now performs much better but now I get a rear end "howling" sound that starts at around 55 mph. It quites down (nearly non-audible) at 65 mph. I had a very good shop replace the gearset and replaced all bearings & seals and properly shimmed. Any help on this would be appreciated. Any fluid change suggestions or additives?
