    Chris; have you checked your front Engine Mounts. There is very little clearance under any style fuel pump, but it will be worse if they are sagging.

        That's a good point, StudeRich. I did not check them, but they probably are compressed with age. Will take another look at them. I was glad the pump was not actually sitting on the frame already.

          There are fuel pumps that you can "clock" the lower part of the body so you can put the inlet and outlet where it's most convenient for your installation. They're a bit more than a stock fuel pump but are much more flexible in fuel line location.

          Edelbrock and Holley make them, as does Summit Racing under their own name. The Summit fuel pump is about $45 new (about half of what the Edelbrock and Holley cost).

          Just an option you can consider.
