  • Milky White Window Glass Edges

Anybody know how to get rid of the milky white edges on window glass?

I assume it is caused by the center safety layer aging...

Since AIR has gotten in between your Laminated Safety Plates, unfortunately nothing but new Glass can repair it properly.

"Champ Glass" in Idaho is a Turning Wheels advertiser I have used many times, who has all glass available.

      I agree with StudeRich.

I have always wondered, because the inner layer is plastic, if you could put the glass between two heavy steel plates in an oven and remelt the layer. I know what modern safety glass has as lamination but not sure of 50's era materials. Of course, flat glass only and temperatures are unknown. That would save the original glass ID markings.

You can try the same method they use for window tint. On the 'cheap' they use clear finger nail polish. A search will find other 'sealers' For sealing the edge of window tint, so it does not peel or let air in.
