  • "912" What's that?

I found this plate screwed to the firewall of my 1950 Commander.

Can anyone help me? What does the 912 stand for?

      Body number

I don't think so, I thought I found the bodynumber on the LH doorpost

Or at least, that is the VIN or Serial number which agrees with the "Additional Serial No.s: 4839001 to 4848311".

Would the BodyNumber be something else?

Serial number on the door post, body number on the firewall.

That is the sequential number of the build up of body tubs the same as your car. In your case: "17A" = 1950 Commander, looks like "W5" = Regal Deluxe four door sedan.

912 is So.Ga. area code. That means that car belongs in South Georgia. Send it to me ASAP. NT

How about a 911 with a 245 Engine? Not knowing Porsche's (or wanting to), I have no clue what you are talking about.
