Someone suggested using 2000 wet sanding, followed by micro fine buffing and then polish. Here it is without the final step of polishing. Thanks for the advice. Its still a 10 footer, but what a terrific difference.

Isn't it great to see that finish come back to life?

That 1956 Fairlane two door sedan must be fairly rare when compared to the 1,408,478 1956 Ford total production. I remember Fairlane four door sedans, four door hardtops (new model), two door hardtops, Skyliners, Crown Victorias (almost owned one) and station wagons, but I do not remember a Fairlane two door SEDAN. Does someone have the production number for that model? (There were 173,311 1955 Fairlane 2 dr. Club Sedans [I guess the equivalent car]).

Thanks Jim, I think it was your suggestion about the 2000 wet sand, wasn't it? Worked well. Still not perfect, but with a bit more dedication, I believe it could be very nice.
BTW, the Ford is a Club Sedan. Runs and drives with a 6 cyl automatic. Nice interior. Sold to a guy in Iowa. The 56 Stude Wagon next to the Ford will be coming up in a month or so. Nice straight 2 door wagon with a V8 automatic.
