Shimming a Prestolite Distributer

Since we are buried with snow here in the midwest, I thought it would be a good time to work on finishing the rebuild of the Prestolite distributer for my R2 Lark. One problem I have run into is that I have excessive endplay in the distributer shaft. According to the shop manual, it should be between .003" & .010". Mine is measuring out at .016"
Are these shims available, and if so, are there different sizes? Has anyone ever tried shimming it up with a thin washer or anything?

Shims are available for the Prestolite distributor shafts. I should have a few spares left over from previous distributor rebuilds. Send me a PM with your address and I'll send a couple of them to you. Bud
