  • edelbrock 1405 conversion---again

Received the 1405 and I need to know if the vacuum advance uses ported or manifold vacuum. They provide instruction on how to tell but it requires engine to be running and that I can't count on with the WCFB that just wants to belch black smoke and cut off. If it make any difference it's a 289 (1960 circa) with a Mallory distributer in a 54 hard top. Ken, Deltaville Va.

My WCFB, on my 289, in my '55 LC uses ported vacuum for the distributor. I'd suggest that's what you want. I can't tell you, however, what vacuum port on 1406 will be ported, what will be manifold.

Passenger side ported, driver's side full.

Most all vacuum advance applications call for ported vacuum, passenger side on the Edelbrock
