38 Shock Interchange or Source for New Shock

Does anyone know if the basic Houdaille Shock from a post war commander will interchange with the 38 shock? Or anyone had any experience with getting Houdaille Shocks rebuilt?

I know the arms are different between the 38 post war shocks but I'm wondering if you can put a 38 arm on a post war shock as NOS post war shocks seem to be available while pre war NOS shocks seem to be hard to find.
