  • 52 Commander finally out of the garage!

My 52 Commander finally saw the light of day today. It has been a long time coming!

I started backing it out of the garage and as soon as I hit the brake, they locked up. I couldn't go anywhere. I couldn't figure out what happened until I remembered that I hadn't hooked up the hillholder rod. As soon as I hit the brake, the hillholder did it's job. I got under the car and hooked up the rod and as soon as I released the clutch, the brakes also released. Good to know the old hillholder is working.

Also had to see if the Positraction is working and it does. I can call it Positraction because it is a 2002 GMC Sonoma rear end.

Good to see the fan blade turning. The engine seems to run smooth.

I actually took it out onto my street which I can do because it is a private road. Ran it up and down the street and visited neighbors.

    It was a good day!

Looking good Leonard! Get the rest of the car looking half as nice as that engine and you'll be set! [8D]

I am hoping to drive it to South Bend, but time is running out. There is still a lot to do...like rewiring!

The body would look better if I could get the same treatment that Matthew's truck got. I guess I need to make a trip to South Georgia!

That must be a great feeling driving your Stude for the first time! Congrats Leonard.

                            Hey, Leonard

Great progress! Bet that Hill Holder stop caused a few moments of concern. Yeah, I know there's lots more to do but it starts, stops, and steers. That air cleaner looks like the one I posted on the thread about them. I know you'll keep us posted on progress.

                            Thanks for the Pics.
