Trunk Lid Emblem Retainer

I want to replace the trunk crest emblem on my '56 Power Hawk. Do I have to remove the lock to take the emblem retainer off? The manual just talks about the lock removal. I just got the trunk lined up to lock as it should and I would like not to have to mess with the lock.

Look inside of the decklid, it should have studs on the Emblem retainer with speednuts to remove it separately from the lock Cylinder. The latch should be a separate unit also.
