  • Wife bought a Champion convertible.

We went to the Moultrie Ga. Automotive swap meet today. Among 100s and 100s of some of the greatest cars ever built, we saw a dozen or so Studebakers. Even a BRIGHT yellow Avanti!! Yellow is NOT a good color for an Avanti. Of great interest to me was a Beautifully restored 48 Champion convertible. Very similar to my 1st car. The one that my Dad bought for me in 1965 when I was 16 years old.

While I was wandering around the Car Corral with Grandson Josh, my wife wandered off to see what she could find. When we finally got back togather she told me she had found a car she wanted to buy but she didn,t have enough cash with her and could she have some of mine? I went with her to check it out, and there was the cutest little flamed out Champion pedal car! Between the 2 of us we came up with enough money to buy it. Now the question is... What are we gonna do with it?

    Haleigh's first Studebaker?

Since I don't think Jeff is ready to let her behind the wheel of his '37 just yet..

I don't know if even Haliegh can fit in it, but she will have the opportunity to try it out tomorrow.

Yes John, I showed her a picture of yours and she was delighted. It just wouldn't look right sitting next to a GT Hawk though.

I suspect Matthew will pipe in here with a picture soon.
When you titled your thread "Wife bought a Champion convertible", my initial thought was to respond, "Nice wife."
                But, you already knew that.

I don't see any problem, just buy a full size 48 'vert to set next to it.

Kinda the way things work at my place.

Actually the first one was my Dad's 59 Lark wagon. I have a picture of it here but don't know how to put it on here. BTW the 58 Ford behind the 48 is the first car I bought myself.

Well, if the kids are too big for the pedal car, I've seen a few of these make their way to a slightly larger display shelf in the garage along with the other petroliana . Either that, or it could be a nice display piece the next time a car show comes around, I've seen them over there too .
