Yes, paint, and not unusual for a export car.

Okay, one question about the paint--love that Avanti Gray by the way--on the build sheet its 7335, but the quart is numbered 6335. I take it that its the same colour, but just noted differently on the car and as a separate commodity??

"Bake Dry" enamel vs. "Air Dry" would be my guess for the different numbers.

Yes, paint, and not unusual for a export car.

When I took delivery of my new 1987 Avanti in NJ, USA there was a quart of matching paint from the Avanti factory in South Bend included. It was simply labeled with the last digits of the S/N --006.

I believe post-Studebaker Avanti's, aside from the 'limited edition' cars, could be ordered in any manufacturer's paint color which could have potentially been well over 100 shades per given year. Going by that policy of the time where one could order their Avanti in any paint color that was on the market at the time, it would be hard maintain an inventory of touch-up paint where only one or two cars may have the same color. Therefore, it would make sense to supply some touch-up paint at the point of sale.

Apparently a long standing Studebaker tradition! Load them up with all the options and ship to Milan, Italy …with extra paint, of course!:cool:http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd257/GoldenHawk_photos/56JMilano.jpg

I supplied touch up paint with every new car that I delivered. It was a tube, not a quart.

Could the parts be headed for the Italian automobile using Studebaker parts that was in TW's years ago.

The paint/export thing dosen't wow me as much as the fact that this Avanti was ordered with a Hill Holder.
This is the first Avanti I have seen or heard of that had one.Is this rare? I honestly don't know......
