Can anyone tell me what an 'R-1" Studebaker is ?
That designation is on another thread and I don't know what car it is specifically.
Year, model, body type.

It could be any '63 or '64 Hawk, Lark or Avanti with the high performance 240 hp. 289 V-8 Avanti Engine without a Supercharger.

With the Paxton Supercharger it would be the 290 hp R2.

The high performance R1 Avanti engines were optional on all models of '63 Larks, '64 Lark Types & GT Hawks and standard on Avanti

The R series engines were designed for the Avanti and then made available in other models. Here is a web link to an Avanti website with some explanation on the R engines...
