Engine ID ?

I was just out in the shop looking over a Studebaker engine that was given to me from the guy I bought my '53 Champion from. He told me the engine is a 289 out of a '64 Lark, he saved the engine from the CRUSHER! The number is VK30I and this does not match with any ID list I can find.[?] Looks like it was painted black with yellow valve covers, but it may have been a repaint.
Any help would be great!

Was crossing my fingers on a 289, but a free 259 engine is ok to!

I will be sure to do that before I tuck it away in the corner of my shop. I just pulled the head on the left bank and found chunks of rust probebly from the manifolds when I was moving the engine around. Lots of clean steel, but a cuple not so good looking spots of rust in the cylinders with the intake valves open and one cylinder with water [:0], but it looks like the water is fresh probebly from last nights storm before I went to get it. Heavy hammer and a block of wood would not budge the engine free, so it is soaking in WD40 (ran out of Marvels). RIP[?]
