History: This used to belong to an old neighbor. I had seen it in his garage for many years.Prior to it becoming a garage ornament it had many different repairs (some good, some questionable) to keep the old hauler mobile. Quite awhile back I posted pics of it sitting on a trailer heading to its new home. The owner was nicknamed "Stubby",and when he passed his brother in law Tom York ( a noted sprint car driver back in the day) took it home for a project. Man did he get a project!
The body was pulled from the frame which was repainted, the suspension was rebuilt, the 259 and tranny were rebuilt and reinstalled. The cab was shot and full of stress cracks because the drivers side cowl area was totally gone .It got the last NOS cowl/post area piece SASCO had,and plenty of welding ,metal and body work. I could not believe it when I pulled that piece out of the dark sheet metal room. Forum member Prager (a old friend of Stubby's) supplied the correct front fenders from his stash.SASCO provided the last NOS truck bed floor and a ton of other parts. Tom invested plenty of labor hours and cash. It is now awaiting a rebuild of the steering box and a little over drive work, and it will once again be cruising. Here are the pics:
